Thanks. It's a jungle!!! I have to trim every week.
I love super thick planted setups! Would do mine like that but my tank is tall, so things don't grow well under the top layer if I don't keep the top space open.
Here's my 45

I have to keep an eye on the plants on the bottom as well. If I see them start to suffer I do a big trim and remove a lot. I trade plants at my LFS for fish food.

I run diy Co2 and reactor with diy root tabs excel, iron, potassium, magnesium . I only add root tabs about every three or four months and only add the other supplements after a water change, about twice a month.
The diy Co2 is two three liter bottles an airline tube runs to a power head that mixes Co2 and water and pushes it into a diy reactor made from 2 inch pvc. Then returns to the tank on the other side.
The Co 2 is produced by a sugar water and yeast mixture.
I just change the bottles out once a week I change 1 bottle alternating.
I have had the tank running about two years.
Lighting is left over two 110watt HO fluorescent 10,000k from my saltwater days. And the hood that came with the tank.
I did this tank on the cheap everything I use is diy, just about.

That's awesome!

My setup for co2 is a 5 lb tank that I get refilled. It's cheap. The up front cost was a bit pricy, but it last over 3 months. The tank was $85, and to fill it, it was $15. So for less than $5 bux a month is cheap for me.

My lighting is two 48 inch t5 Nova extreme lights with a 48 inch led fully programmable light. I have the lights on from 10 am to 8 pm. The peak light time is 11a to 7p. It starts to ramp up at 10 a, and starts to ramp down at 7 p. It has dim blue lights for night light.

The filtration is 2 Rena xp4, and one xp3 with a 50 watt UV sterilizer inline. I also have a skimmer that I put inline.

Nothing on my tank is DIY, simply because I don't have much time in most cases to build stuff. Wish I did though. Would make things much cheaper. Lol! It's also because I haven't met any one until just resent that could show me some tips, and tricks. It's one of the reasons I am on here now. It was suggested to me that I join this sight.
