Plants consuming nitrates and other "consumables"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Someone here is using them and they're growing well with just the roots submerged, water chemistry-wise I don't know how much beter they are or not.

I use Lucky bamboo in the last section of my filter. That plant need less light more root and great result to consump nitrate in my tank.

The issu eis that plants eat the excess nutrients and, through that, help cleaning the water....

Emersed plants are the best for this, the Peace Lily (Brazilian sword) makes an ideal plant for this purpose. Good thing you chose it. Or you could use floating plants, but avoid Duckweed.

How are your peace lilies doing? how about nitrate readings?

I've added a plant to my tank which has a 40 ppm nitrate reading, this is before i do my 50% weekly water change
