im new to aquascaping. most of my tanks just has a drift wood and fish. so im tryin to pimp out my tanks. with some plants. how do i get the plants to grow on my drift wood???

I've never done this, but I've heard that you can attach java moss to the ornaments with fishline or rubber bands and they will eventually spread.

Most of the time I see people using rubber bands or string. Ill try to have driftwood that has holes and crevices in it and stick the root gently into the holes.

Nice I had plants once... My Oscar and his buddies uprooted the stapled ones and ate all of it... Wierd cause at that point all my fish were carnivours LOL...

Howdy,

First of all, you need to choose plants that are suitable for that purpose. Amongst the most popular species are anubia, java fern and java moss as well as riccia (a bit more demanding). Except for the latter, these species are also pretty hardy, although some very tough fish may eat or damage even them.

Second, simply use some fishing line to tie the plants onto the driftwood. A few weeks later you can simply cut the line. Others use cotton thread which rots off by itself.

Good luck

to attach mosses simply tie them down with thread or fishing line. for attaching plants with roots i use garbage bag ties and tie down the roots, eventually they will grow into the wood and you can take off them ties.

Ive got some java moss tied to my driftwood with some string.TRied to get some to stick to rock but after a month it was still loose
