Platinum Jack Dempsey attempt

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you have any updates? I just spent a lot of time reading this whole thread and not being able to see pictures until the last few pages.

WOW! That’s was an amazing read, even though I’m not even sure I understand what you have done....

How many tanks do you own?

You must feel really accomplished!

And your fish are beautiful! Congrats on creating your platinums.

Thank you Niki!

Ya, it was a couple of years in the making. Took a little while to spawn and grow out the specific genetics required. I'll have to get some photo updates.

The earlier photos got screwed up due to Photobucket's policy change. I think it'd cost $300 to get the photos back up, and then it'd only be temporary. I'm thankful that MFK allows direct upload of the photos now. Too bad I can't go back and update the posts.

I have 9 tanks currently.

Let me know how I can help with your EBJD endeavors.

I was pretty impressed with your whole thread, dedication, and your hard work!

I can’t wait to see more photos.

As I’m reading I’m becoming more intrigued with the platinum dempsey (one I didn’t even know existed) thinking my Ebjd that I want to breed are difficult haha, if only I had more room to expand and play around with!

I think my biggest hurdle right now is getting a healthy male past the 4 inch mark.

Great work here, them fry look amazing.

Any tips to get my pair to breed? No luck so far. I have tried warming the water, giving treats/more food. They seem like everything is great, just no spawn yet.

Jexnell, do you have another JD male? If you add the third, then a pair may develop. If I recall from your other thread, I wonder if you might have two females.

One is an EB so we can't be 100% sure what it is, but it acts looks male and we know the other is female, just no spawn yet. I may have to see if I can find a normal male. The trailers he has on his dorsal and anal scream male. Anal one is as long as his tail, and dorsal even longer than his tail.

Here is a shot of him flashing at her.

Maybe she just don't like him in that way, but acts like she does.

That is the best ebjd I've ever seen, some clearer pics would be great, I have a gold JD in my 300g, most ebjd over here in the UK are deformed.

I have a thread here all about these 2 for the last 7 months.

Sorry I only have a cell phone camera and it's a 4th hand acrylic tank so has some scratches.
The EBJD I got from The Wet Spot, I live 30 minutes away from it luckily. Here is a clearer one, they were moving in that last one.
