is sand for playgrounds safe for fish tanks??!?.. because i dont like how my gravel looks
and i want a more natural look plus it is way cheaper than at the LFS
 
i use play sand in my 75 and 26 gallon tanks :)
its safe, just give it a good rinse :D

only about 4$ for 50lbs.
 
just for a little more help .. part of the reason you need to rinse it so much is because it is very fine and contains a ton of clay.. so if you don't rinse good enough your tank will always be cloudy from the fine sand..
the price definately makes it worth the effort though.

If you have a planted tank then get playsand and do not rinse too much - the residual clay is great fertilizer.

If you do not plan on having live plants, then get pool filter sand - it's already pre-washed and just as cheap :thumbsup:
