Playing Musical Fish Tanks (And I Have A Question)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah goldfish really need at least 20 gallons, preferably 40. The BB should be fine even with the temperature swings:)
I have a 120ltr (apprx 30g) and I could never house a goldfish in something that small for life. Not even an oranda or other fancy, I just don't think it's enough room to spend 15+ years in at 20cm+. :)

A lot of people just don't realize how big their fish get or just believe the myth that goldfish "stay small" when kept in a small container. I have seen goldfish in ponds that are over 18 inches.

Yup. My brothers pop (half brother, not the pop we share) got him a goldfish for his 10th birthday, and a 20ltr tank for it. When I told my dad that his goldfish would need a 500ltr box all to himself he couldn't believe it, I got the old "so and so has had one in a 50ltr tank for years and its not that big" so I explained to him that its (KIND OF) like putting a human baby in a cage, and expecting it to grow up healthily, while the fish might stay small, it won't be very healthy or happy, and in turn won't be very long lived. After I'd explained it like that and he'd googled it (didn't trust my "animal rights mumbo" :P) he rang my aunt and asked if he could fix her pond up for the little goldfish. Kind of glad that happened now.. Haha

My comet is pushing 11 inches atm, hence why he's not going in the 4ft, he's going to the pond before the others even go into the 4ft. :D
