then there is no prob...break um' down and do a 25% water change...run your filters and see if the water is cloudy in the morning....if it is do a 50% water change, and it should be good.

Don't worry about it, happens to me everytime I add sand to a tank. It's sand sticking spherically around small air bubbles. Just do some stirring on the bottom and break up the ones at the top, the others will break apart over a few days.

Yeah, they are the same as the other bubbles on new sand, just that they have some grains stuck to them. Stirring just helps the process along somewhat.

any idea how long it takes for them to fall apart? ive had a filter running for 2 hours, the balls up top seem to just stay, and the ones on bottom stay. does it take several days?

ok so i was convinced it wasnt getting any better. i took it all out and rewashed it, after 30 minutes of more washing, its still clear, but the balls and white film stuff on top isnt going away. heres new pics of it in the cooler that i used to clean it in. http://img366.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1009081254jw9.jpg

almost looks waxy...when you rub it between your fingers, what does it feel like?

it just feels like particles...i forgot to add, i had this sand sitting in a empty tank for nearly 3years, maybe thats why its screwed up, but i didnt think it would be messed up..it had no water in the tank
