Please Critique my Breeding Setup

Went looking for a sponge filter today. They seem to be extinct. I'm about to start making my own DIY one. I got all the parts for $4
I also picked up the plant "floor mats". I had suction cups with hooks on them so no siliconing was required! (I hate to wait! lol)
I ended up going with the first ones I posted however - got more coverage (bang for my buck)
Bout to go out & lookup DIY sponge filter instructions. I'll let you know how she comes out
(as far as params, can't check em out right now. Out of chemical drops. I'm guessing my nitrites a bit high. My DIY intake covers got really dirty really fast.)

When my Jags looked to be pairing up to spawn,
I went with 82-83 degrees f / 8.0ph / lower water level than normal (the gentle splashing causes ripples that hide them from what's above the surface, I believe) and of all things a change in the barometer ^ along with a 3-day rain...of course the latter not being in our control, but it put them from thinking about it, nesting etc. to a few thousand egg spawn, over night...
