Just to clear things up some hybrids are sterile, i.e. mules, bison x cow
But not all are if all hybrids were sterile I would not have a problem with these fish as they would have no effect on me. But the fact of the matter is most cichlid hybrids are not sterile. and they do affect me so I do care.
Hybridization is one of the reasons cichlid populations are so dynamic in terms of speciation. New species are created in the wild all the time to suit the needs of an ever changing ecosystem. If your telling me that the fish in your tank need to be mixed to survive then by all means.
The truth of the matter is that there are cichlids of all different varieties and colors already available through mother nature, does anyone really feel the need to create something new.
If anyone can honestly tell me they have tried every species of cichlid and none suited them except hybrids then I give you permission to create a fish that works for you.
