1. Some aros are pickier than others, silvers are especially known to be picky, not much surprise here.
2. Why is there no way to have 0 everything? My tubs and tanks are ALL at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, and 0 nitrite. Its not that hard if you put more water changes into it...

to answer your ? it usually is hard because a lot of tap water has nitrate in it to start (at least in my area) add that to fish always producing waste and 0 is difficult to achieve.
and all my exprience has been with silver aros and they all (i'v dealt with 15-20 now, the one's i spoke of being smallest up to 8in at arrival) have ate at least crickets from the get go. maybe it's been a huge coincidence but i've found they are not picky at all.
