I had a look online. IT doesn't look like Banjar red.

?
Its a red arowana.
Pretty sure
Its never been tanned or probably been a in a dark environment hence the lack of color..
But under good care I think this fish will be good

Also one more question. I thought dark environment brings out the intense red colours in arowanas? That is why people blind the arowana or cover the tank in complete darkness to bring out the colours?

not an expert but at 2.5yrs old... i would expect to see orange/red on some parts of this fish.. which i don't see on this fish..... so even if it is a red.. i am not too sure about the gene quality

if the genes is good... you don't tan you also will see color

I meant he probably was kept in a enviroment with little lighting thats why the reds color looks faded..
In my case I keep my red in a tank with a black base and all other sides transparent to maximise sunlight exposure which makes their colors pop.
But yes they would look nicer in a black tank

Yeah the really good ones dont require tanning ..
But heres an example this fish was 2 years old and looked like this.
The same fish after moving to a outside tank 1 year later..
I think lighting plays a part in the red arowanas color but Iam not too sure.
