i get those white spots alot.sometimes after water changes probably result of chlorine.sometimes when ph swings i notice that too.and when i have the tank completely dark than turn the lights on they have pales spots too.could be alot of things stress to?? you will only have to figure out your self.i am sure theirs many others who have seen these due to a result of something differnt than what i have listed too.its for you to determine.
in my experince with these spots never had any problems due to it!!

your leo will be fine dont worry and panic

Thank you! Yea I experienced this from doing a water change.

if he has very hard water their how do you reccomend maintianing soft water.i am very curious myself?? ro

Peat, Indian Almond leaf extract(Ketapan leaf) I've even used some kinds of tea.

Just a little will do, which leaches into the water slowly. A minor drop of PH over time will not harm the ray.

It has a staining effect and might affect the whiteness of black & white based rays but there are beneficial minerals to counter this too which I would go into detail.

My rays sometimes gets these white spots on their disc when i do bigger water changes. Other times they seem to get it when the nitrate exceed 30ppm... or when they are being bullied by another ray.

So i have concluded that the reason must be stress.
When this have occurred i have never seen any loss in appetite though... nor any changes in behavior.
