I used 2 40 hour heat packs rated for fish, reptiles and small mammals ( Fish were in box for less than 24 hours) I pack toward the end of the day so they have less time in box. ( I do offer Airport to Airport shipping at the same price) Fish were double bagged in industry standard tropical fish shipping box.

3 people had a problem in the last week as temps were in the 30's here in florida. The fish received ranged from rainbows to cichla. 2 out of three had no problems with curing ick. ( Fish were clear when leaving my facility) All other shipments had no problems to report.

I have been doing partial water changes every other day. I tried feeding them pellets.

Temperature had been raised to 86-88F. Salt and quickcure that I have been using for years with great success on cichlas.

I assume from this response that you got the answer to you own question I appoligise for trying to help you all of the help you recieved were from very versed Cichla keepers. If you have YEARS WITH TREATING ICH on CICHLA. Then this was a thread to attack the vendor. This should have been taking care of of through PM between you and FishInABowl. We tried to help you thats all you still seem a little stand offish. Which is understandable it sounds like you got things situated. I would suggest to you to Pm Fish in a bowl. Hashing problems out like this out in the open does not look good for any of us Cichla keepers.

All I can say at this point is WOW. ( Please Read through)

My facility is a private closed facility with foot baths, UV and a minimum of 1 week Quarantine on all fish. ( I am not a transhipper and pay dearly for it). What none of you see is the Vendors side and this has quickly gotten out of hand from a simple post on a forum.

I was working with the buyer but had the care and condition of the fish in mind first. ( Sorry for thinking about the fish before the money or etc)

I spoke with DOM on the phone and yes with super cold temps and a drop in Bag temp did say it is common for Cichla to get ick, they are used to 80-85 degree water. When the fish left my facility they were healthy with no signs of Ick and had been through a week of QT.

To all that care

Take Care and Happy Fishkeeping

No vendor should have to deal with this type of response to a bad situation that has gotten out of control. It sounds like you did your part but there was unforseen conditions that made the shipment that was VERY RISKY even worse. I would just like to suggest to you I would keep the little Cichla at 88-90 degrees. I have always used this advice from a reputabile source. 80-85 degrees water along with a drop in temprature can easliy atain a drop of 3 degrees or less during shipping even with the use of heat packs. I do believe you did all the right things as far as the information you had. But I just wanted to suggest to increase the temp on your holding tanks to ensure that ich wouldn't even be able to populate which I don't feel was the case but it seems they developed during transit.

Moderators please close this thread.

I made my point..........buy cichlas only from well known Venders....

SNOOK21, WES, JEFF RAPPS, RICH, AND SHARK......;)

Everyone have a safe and happy holiday!!!

fishinabowl is one of the nicest guys on here imo. i ordered over 200$ worth of fish from him and when it fell through on my end he was nice enough to repay me every penny.

im sure he would have helped you in any way he can, but i honestly cant see the way this thread has gone that its his fault, or should i say, entirely his fault.

mrdee ~ This should have never come to the forums in the way it did. You ordered online, you took a risk. Its in the disclaimer of the buy/sell. I'm sorry for the headache you are going through, but you handled this in the wrong way. There is feedback for a reason, and now because of your hot headedness you have possibly tarnished a vendors reputation. You better be 100% SURE of your complaints because the consequences of your actions will live on.

FishInABowl ~ I don't know both sides of the story, but I do know its your responsibility to handle all claims by customers. I hope you get this all figured out.

Enough of this merry-go-round.
