OK, so the kids had a snow day today, so I took off work, and I got a chance to really dig through some good literature this morning and came across a great piece from the Calgary Aquarium Society about peaceful Lake Malawi community tank. After reading it I think this looks good, what do you guy think about this setup?
PEACOCKS - need to pick out one species of Aulonocara (5 unsexed juveniles)
UTAKA
-Protomelas "Ndiwe" Fire Hap (Four Fish Colony)
-Copadichromis azureus Mbenjii (White Blaze) (Four Fish Colony)
I have kept most of those fish. IT seems like that would work well.
The only question is the venustus. It might give you problems.
Also, sometimes the Blue Dolphin males, when they get very large become overly aggressive and harass the other blue fish to death, but this is maybe only 5-10% of the time. In general, Blue Dolphins are very docile.. just something watch out for, based on my experience.
Well let's hope for the best, I hope the rock work and plants can give all of the fish a place to get out of each others line of sight when they want to get away.

I just remembered something someone told me about Vesuvius.. He said if they are fed a normal pellet diet, they tend to be more docile. So in other words, don't give the Vesuvius feeders (including culls from breeding etc).. Apparently eating live fish brings out the predator in them (according to him).. Keep them as lazy pellet grazers lol. I think you have a good list, I hope I didn't sound critical, just wanted to give you the fish to watch extra carefully. Post picts when you get it stocked.
I have been feeding them Hikari cichlid excel sinking pellets a few times a day and I have been suprised on how much they have grown already. What is everyones thoughts on good pellet options?
