Hello...looking for your input on whether my 3" Green Terror is a Male or a Female and why? I'm leaning toward female only because of the rounded fins, but maybe still too young to tell? I tried to get some pictures without the flash as I know it washes out a lot of the color but had no luck. Here ya go:

thats defintiely a nice little male you have there. i say so because it has the nice designs within the unpaired fins and has irridescent body color, my old male i had didnt get pointy fins until about 3.5in and my female got pointy fins before he did so thats not a very reliable way to sex them

Thank you for the replies. I'm now wondering about my other recently aquired Green Terror (pictured below) I just picked it up from the LFS and assumed it was a male by the same method (pointed fins)...thoughts???

The fish in my original above post looked similar to this one when I got it, after a few weeks of Hikari Cichlid Gold it's yellow along the edge of the fins turned a vibrant orange and the body color deepened up a bit.

yeah they are both males but only 100% way to tell is by venting, female Oo, male oo but with GTs it is pretty reliable to tell by their coloring

Sarah what if you vent and see this, oO>

if the 2 holes are different sizes then that would mean its a female, but make sure you are looking at the actual holes because one of the holes (i think its the one closer to the anal fin but not sure) has like a non-colored area around it that makes it look better sometimes, but if the actual holes are different sizes then you have a very nice colorful female, that really would be one of the most colorful females ive ever seen

Wow....something happened today that may have made my mind up that the fish in my first post is a male.

As I said, the fish in the second picture was just acquired yesterday and was new to the tank, and is slightly smaller than my original green terror in the first picture.

I left for most of the day today, and when I turned the tank light on tonight to find the second green terror was TORN TO SHREDS by the green terror in my first post. It was alive but not doing well...and I also noted it was pooping white & stringy (parasite). I put it out of its misery (this is hard to do by the way) as I did not want it to suffer any more or get my other fish sick.

Judging by this behavior...I'm really leaning toward male.
