i have... i delt with this for like 6 months.... changing gravel, daily waterchanges, blacking out the tank.. changing every decoration.. removing and replacing every plant..

every possiable thing i could do except listen to what people told me...

if you dont want to call it overstocked call it underfiltered...

i will def agree that its underfiltered. the issue now is getting the money for a canister

maybe build a wet/dry for half the cost of a canister, as a quick way to boost your filtration. I built my wet/dry for my 55 gallon for 70 bucks including the pump.

Okay so I didnt read all that garbage, but jjdsplace had the right answer.

In 1 sentance,

The bacterial bloom is simply from you not having enough biological media (surface area) and/or filtration for your grossly overstocked, undersized tank.

'Nuff Said.

Agreed, it may look as if your fish have enough moving room but it is unlikely that your filters can handle the bioload. A simple water test will show this.

Have you ever tested your water parameters, such as ammonia, nitrites and nitrate?

What type(brand) of filters do you have?

as i said before, the parameters are fine. i will just have to get more filtration.
i have an Aqueon and a Penguin Biowheel

I think your test kit has some problems bro..

Why would you get more filtration if your water params are fine? Myself I would doubt that your ammonia is at an acceptable level. What test kit are you using?

I am not familiar with the aqueon filter, what does it have for cultivating bacteria? What size is the biowheel?

i woud get more filtration because it seams that everyone is suggestion i do so why not?
i am using this kit:
http://www.petco.com/product/103685/Aquarium-Pharmaceuticals-Freshwater-Master-Test-Kit.aspx

and the aqueon doesnt have a biowhele. it had this thing ha has these little chabers where the water drips down threw the bacteria that has grown in the chambers.
