It is definetly not a Cynopotamus atratoensis . They look like alot of payara hydro species. Check the payara capitve care guide for a link to some pics of Cynopotamus atratoensis. What makes you think this fish is not a red cuda? I am pretty sure it is etheir Ace or what channa said the Oligosarchus. It looks exactly like the Oligosarchus but the color pattern is all red Ace falcatus.

Does your fish have this dark spot? that is the only distinctive spot that all Ace falcatus have that the other Aces do not have. If it has this spot I would say that I am 99.9% sure it is a ace falcatus. The only reason i am not 100% is because i am not up on my brycon ID'ing and there may be a brycon with this spot.

I have come to the conclusion that it is oligosarcus hepsetus..

The fish in the picture is the one that i have.. He does have the spot behind the operculum but it is a line rather that the circle found on the acestrorhynchus.. I have had many red tail cudas.. and everything about this fish is just off..not as elongate, the temperment is off, the operculum spot is not the right shape.. the size of the teeth is off.. and there is no color on any of the other fins.. behavior wise this fish is a gorilla compared to the skittish raid tail cudas..

well then come on master channa (lol) what do you think it is? with the humaral spot and all?
