It's a beautiful fish!

Honestly though, there are some factors going on here that are helping the fish look unreal.

The first and main one is the lighting.

Dim tank, with only a purplish light (probably aqua-glo or power-glo) that spectrum of lighting really makes reds pop, which is why most fish stores have that dim purple glow to the fish section, makes all the fish 'pop' with color.

The second is whatever they're feeding it.

Notice the feces in the bottom corners of the picture. It is bright red as well.

Foods with lots of stuff in them to promote red color will come out the other end with the same red color to them.

Just some things to notice. I love this fish, I would love to have it, but I know I'd have to keep it in specific conditions to make it look as unreal as it does in the pics.

I could do the same thing with my FH, but I need to grow plants too :D

That too, but the main reason behind that unreal deep red color is "photoshop":D

LOL even more..

the blotch of off color red in the first pic as well as its super red intensity could be argued as "photoshoped".

But then again if you know and trust the seller, then go for it.

as for the fish itself, the color is the only real nice thing about it, i guess good for your breeding purposes.

I assure you it has not been photoshopped.

I would love to have a FH with such colors! If you have successful breeding let me no?!

the 2 male red texas I am going to use have crazy pearls, so I am hoping to breed the pearls back into the fry, I was told by breeders that the female parent fish passes the color on to the fry and the male passes on the pearls. so if this is true I should be ok. we'll see what happens if this is true or not.

Even without that it's very easy for me to make a fish have better color through photoshop. :)

But as you said we shall see when it comes in. :)

Wow... MFK is turning into a bunch of haters. I love how all of you jump to conclusions about a fish you have never seen before. Do you actually think that reputable sellers on AB photoshop there fish and still have near perfect feedback? I don't. Everyone is so quick to dismiss the fact that this could be the real color of the fish.

I like the fish Shawna! Good pick up. I got dibbs on some of the fry she produces. I need some pearly red females!
