I honestly feel this would more result in a ban of puffers in general. I don't think the govt really bans just one specific store from selling something...

Bringing up Tetrodotoxin next thing you know people will be worried about this in every fish store and entering the water supply and puffers released in local streams making toxins.

A really nice idea, but I really do see any result coming from it being a complete pufferfish ban in the USA.
Exactly. The FDA will see a toxic fish and to avoid getting sued to holy hell they will make the fish unavailable.

If the FDA finds a violation they can stop just Walmart from selling the puffers.

I give you credit for your passion, but what you wrote seems a little mis-leading??? Unless im reading it wrong, since as far as i know Puffer Fish do not release TTX from their bodies when stressed (poisoning other fish)...

The only way to die from them is by eating them, and even then, once being kept in captivity for a while, they start to lose their TTX toxicity because they dont have access to the food items in the wild which would help them produce said toxins...

They'll never be banned. The pet industry is too powerful. The wholesaler Quality Pets Inc is one of many importers who invest in lobbying congress to keep the laws friendly to the pet trade. The only laws regarding puffers are imports for consumption.

Actually, Mr Homer, in crowded conditions, puffers can even become ill from exposure to toxicity when in the bag during shipping. Wholesalers treat them with tetracycline.
Wild puffers are shipped without delay to fill orders, and are toxic for several weeks after capture. This is why they are separated from the rest of the warehouse stock.
As far as how dangerous this is to humans, i dont know, but i think its in everyones best interest to be informed about it. Especially if kids are going to stick their hands in the unlocked tanks at Walmart.

I'd like to get your input on this water issue. See, I tested every single rescue water for 6 months, and found nothing. Nothing! The ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ph were all within safe parameters.
What else could be effecting the fish health at almost every Walmart store ??

also, what qualify's a "monster" tank? Is 125 close?
