now I have a pleco in my angels tank going belly up floating at the surface upside down or when sticks to the glass starts sliding up! belly is a little bloated & I see white poop so I suspect another parasite (not sure how this time cuz angels are quite healthy & other pleco also which overtook this pleco in size in just 2mos.)

I am looking to use prazi-pro but if it's dropsy what should I do?

thx all.

20 gal 3 large angels, 1 baby koi angel, 1 med/lg pleco, 1 lg albino cory & the 1 med sick pleco.

pH 6.2 (will try to get it higher)
AM = .125
NI = 0
NA = 10
temp = 80

It's not all fish all the time that will be affected. Since you are suspecting internal parasites, what you must do as he is rather bloated as you described is isolate him and fast him. In a separate tank, treat him with praziquantel. In the meantime, monitor the rest for their poop and appetite.

Prozi isnt for internal parasite, metro is

Alex, please explain why it is not instead of making an inconclusive statement. Perhaps you forgot the praziquantel has proven itself in various cases as deworming treatments for all pets, not just fish. If your experience showed you otherwise, then that is not conclusive proof prazi is not a dewormer. Sorry but I don't buy your claim that it is not a dewormer. I've used prazi with great results for internal parasites.

Metronidazole is better for fighting bacterial infections and a variety of internal parasites, praziquantel is an excellent dewormer and combats a number of external parasites.. Different drugs for different infections with similar external symptoms, when one fails try the other.

most of the time.. if u see your pleco floating or not being able to stick to the tank.. its near death...

Just like arowana that can't float on its own and are horizontally upwards or downwards..

Anyways.. at times internal parasite will cause it.... only way to avoid it is frequent water change and a good diet..

Sushi, go with the prazi. It is a mild treatment and you just dose at 2mg per liter. I think you saw my treatment layout post in another thread. I'd follow that one.

Can we get prazi here in the UK lupin, i think my largest rtc has internal parasites but dont know what to use for him :(

Sorry to rain on ur parade and thread dude but just had to ask, hope ur pleco is better soon. Ive noticed with mine he also gets bloated fromm time to time but i think its just because hes fat and likes to eat anything i put into the tank (food wise)

I could be wrong and way off the mark here but would a salt bath help him???? please check this out 1st before jumping in as i dont want to kill ur pleco with misinformed info ;)
