PLECO For High PH?

Hello,

I currently have an African Cichlid tank with a PH of 8.0...

I want to put in a pleco, other than a common....

I heard that the only "fancy" pleco that would do well in such a high PH is a ROYAL PLECO.

Is this true?

Or does anyone have other suggestions?

Just looking for a pleco that will help out with cleaning up uneaten food...

Nothing in particular, just something other than the common...

I had a peppermint pleco (not sure exactly what it was), but it died after 2 weeks... I was told it was the PH that killed him...

Can you tell me the size of the tank? So i know the fish won't outgrow it.

Thanks guys, the Tank is a 26 Gallon BowFront... a grow out with 3 inch fish...
