So yesterday I was cleaning my tank, and decided that my pleco looked like he was breaking out in some sort of infection. (I now realize he was just losing color from the temperature bump.) So I put him in a 20 gallon long tank just incase, because I don't want any of my other fish getting an infection or any illness for that matter. Well I wake up this morning from a dream where I feel like my pleco could have jumped out of the tank. I reassure myself when I wake up that, A. I would of heard the noise and woken up, and B. that he wouldn't push off the top to get out, and if he did it would be loud.....I then thought about how tired I was last night, and I knew I would have slept right through it. I walk over to the tank, and he's not in there =[ (I bet you saw that coming) I begin searching my room... :nilly: 5 minutes later I find him. He is right by my bed....Hard as a rock, dry as a bone. No gill movement, nothing. I decide to take a shot, and hope for the best. I put him in a tank with alot of waterflow, and a few airstones. After about another 5 minutes, I see his gill move the slightest bit! :D I was sooo pumped when I saw this! I kept wiggling him around, and I poured some "Slime-coat" mixture into the tank. 15 minutes later, he suddenly comes back 100% and fly's out of my hand, and down the length of the tank! I then had to run down to my cross country practice, and I made it just on time. After the 7 mile run, I ran back home, and he's alive and "kickin"! :headbang2

Lesson learned, weigh down the lid, don't expect a fish not to be strong enough...And even if the fish is seemingly dead...Try to revive them! I hope you all have a great day!

Thanks! I'm really happy I saved him too! He's got all his color back now! I wish I had a camera on me when he was all dry on the floor. He looks amazing now! He/she is a little over 8 inches or so, probably closer to 9, so it was a weird site to see on the floor... and a sad one =[

Thanks man! This is one of my first threads, but I've been reading threads constantly since I joined in February...It's cool that I recognize both of you guys!

It is fun to get to recognize people. I still have a bad habit of not reading who writes what.

Yeah, I do that too sometimes lol. But I still pay attention to names sometimes. And pictures, but signatures are what I remember the most, because I always read them!

Evening bump, just want people to realize that there is always a chance you can save your fish!

Aggreed, and very nice to know that pleco's can survive out of the water for a long time.
Some species can even survive for up to 30 hours out of the water!:nilly:
They are sold on some asian marketsand are kept alive and out of the water at those markets.
Pleco's have to some extend the possibility to adsorb air out of their stomachs.
I'm glad you took the chance and he survived!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

Wow, that's some great info Noddy, I recognize you aswell, I'm pumped that I can recognize alot of you =] And I'm very glad that I took the chance aswell! I might have to go to an Asian Market in the future to see pleco's being sold! Maybe I'll even buy one ;]
