Pleco misshap

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks! I'm pretty pumped that he/she made it! The top "spine" of it's dorsal fin is broken though. =[ And I'm afraid that it won't heal. Does anyone have any information on that?

But it's not like the filament part of his fin. It's the thick "spine" part. It snapped in two. I can't find any info relating to this type of injury

Good morning bump =]

My Mustang cactus pleco has the same injury for several weeks now.
It's lower tailfin spine is snapped like a match.
The two ends became white and turned brownish this week.
It seems not to be growing together again, but the end part of the spine hasn't come of either. the ends seam to heal and seal themselves off.
But only time will tell!

I can't figure out what's happening! Noddy, did yours start losing "skin" inbetween it's fins? Mine is like down to the bone in numerous spots. I think he got an infection or something =[

this is great to hear, congrats man. Unfortunately i didnt have the same luck you did. My crawfish named Howard, RIP, climbed out of my tank because my dumbass forgot to put the cover back on after i changed the substrate from gravel to sand. I came back from a short trip a 2 days later and found him dry and crisp inside of my closet. a 5 foot drop onto hardwood floors below my tank. Well, i tried to revive him, but no luck. But everyone still give it a try anyways, obviously it can make a difference!
