I had my Pleco in an uncycled tank for 3 months, and then a high nitrate tank (160+) for another 3-4 months. Yours will be fine. (Don't get mad it was my first tank)
Plecos are tropical. That could be part of your problem. He has not eaten the wafers i put in last night. The bottom tank is actually quite cold so maybe he is just dormant. When he was in the warm top tank he was eating a lot and it seemed like he was growing. He was actually about 1 inch when i got him and now he is about 2. I used to have 2 plecos in my 55. One was small and sick. The small one was eating and had gotten better and then my pleco that i have now murdered him. My pleco is always in the same spot all of the time. I am going to refill the top tank and get a blood parrot cichlid and i will put the pleco in there. I have a 150 watt heater that i am going to use in the top tank.

Too low. You need like 10 degrees higher minimum. The tank is usually like 65
I think he is not growing because he is dormant. I am going to move him up when i get the top 40 running.Too low. You need like 10 degrees higher minimum.
I don't think so... His metabolism is slow because of the water temp. If you raise the temp, his metabolism will raise, and then so will his growth rate. Trust me. My tank always stays 76-82, and with the high water changes and big feedings I get 1" per month out of mine.Do plecos go dormant?
That is what i meant. It is like koi under a sheet of ice.His metabolism is slow because of the water temp.
