Pleco with cloudy eyes?

My chocolate pleco's eyes have turned a cloudy white color. He is currently homed with a JD and a fw snail in a 10g. He also has a red mark above his right eye. Internal bleeding? I am not sure about the params. But I did just recently changed the substrate to sand, so that could have added to it.

I have a feeling params are the key here. You've got these animals in a very small volume.

You might also want to make sure your aquarium light isnt on too often. Perhaps his eyes are glazing because he is more of a night time fish and hes getting more than 12 hours of light a day.
 
Yes, he's very sick, I agree. Please get back to us with ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings, how long the tank's been set up, and filtration. Without this information, it's like playing pin-the-tail-on-the donkey... those of us who want to help are wandering around blindfolded. We might get the tail on the donky, but we might pin it on the kid standing by the punchbowl. This info. is important.
 
Alright, I just got my water tested at petco, and they said all the params were fine. Sorry about the lack of info. But i picked up some melafix, and hopefully that will fix the cloudy eyes and injuries.
 
Oh, and I moved the JD into my bigger tank, so now it shouldn't be as crowded, and i took out the sand. Hopefully this melafix fixes it. *fingers crossed*
 
What are the params? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate? Numbers? How long have these animals been in this tank? What type of filtration are you using? I'm not trying to be mean. This information is actually important. You can keep adding medication, because it makes you feel better, or you can get some real answers. Honestly, some of the employees at Petco could put their information about fishkeeping in a thimble. For one thing, buy your own test kits. For another, ask for NUMBERS. What they think is "fine" may not be what is actually "fine." They're your fish, and you want them living by your standards, not some know-nothing employee of a chain store.
 
Thank you for the long rant. But the JD and the pleco have been living together for for about a month, I have an aquaclear 20 power filter and heater. they are both 4-5". I know petco employees have very bad reps, but on my defense, this guy seemed pretty reputable. He was telling me about his tanks, and his experiences with this same problem. So when he told me that my parameters were perfect for my fish, i assumed he knew what he was talking about. But i will get my own water testing kit.
