ok so weve come up with an arro and pbass as possible tank mates for my channa.
i know pbass are cichlid relatives but is there any big cichlids anyone can think of what might work with my channa??
i do like my cichlids

cheers guys , and yes ron it was definatly just like a stroke , i did try blowing into there mouths but unfortunatly luck was just not on my side.

anyway back to the topic :

cichlids - you need to be looking for something that grows at reasonable pace and gets large , but is not overly aggresive , my jags did used to nip the reds sometimes ,i could see it comming a mile off but the reds seamed oblivious to it until too late and he had been bitten , out of my three veijas the pearlsii seamed to just ignore all the snakeheads but i have had reports of them being nasty , i think i really would be a case of try and see with most cichlids , you could maybe try something like a few large Uaru far to big to be eaten (at least for a good while) and fairly peacfull .

my lfs has a nile pearch in with so marulia at the moment and it dosnt bother them at all even though its twice the size of the marulia , i belive he also has lsome large knife fish in there , also , theres a few other things in with them ,i will have another look at weekend and find out how there all getting along ,

i had no problems with my butti either which would be a great fish addition , but some of them do turn nasty (mine vas very peacefull)

thanks col

cichlids are deffo awkward, coz either they will get nasty and kill the channa when small or will get territorial and get bit in half when the micro is bigger....
i dont want to risk the life of any of my channas either specially with an import ban coming

i'll just have to have a separate cichlid tank instead as none of the cichlids i like are very peacefull...lol
