I am buying some nicely fitting glass lids my new tank came with some crappy acrylic ones that like mentioned earlier had to be flipped over or they bow like a mofo. I can get them at Dr fosters for cheap so its all good I guess.
thanks everyone. i was thinking of using thin acrylic and reenforcing it with egg crate. i was thinking of drilling holes in the acrylic and zip tying it to the egg crate to keep it from flexing. it would be cheap, but do you think it would work?

i did exactly that BUT didnt zip tie it. without the zip ties the corners of the acrylic bowed up/away from the tank, not too shure if the eggcrate will stop that or not.
the issue with acrylic is it actualy does absorb some water, making the side facing the water expand, not actually droop like most people think.
