Plumbing my sump HELP?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Where are Fleshy or Nonstophoops when I need them my sump was running but very loud because the return pump was barely getting enough water and outproducing the intake thus draining below the line i am going to mess with it but if someone has any advice i would like to hear it.

So the Sump is Full and running albeit Not sure 100% properly seems like the rerun pump might be too strong for the amount of water coming from the overflow box.

now I put a DSB in the Fuge area what else should I put in there for filtrations assistance?

Should there be some sort of media in each chamber?

All help is needed and appreciated.

As i recommended in my PM, turning the ball valve a little closed should solve that problem.

I think you should add live rock to the fuge, but it isn't necessary.

There are a number of medias people use, I personally don't use any at the moment except an occasional bag of carbon.

Dustin...you forced him to do a dsb?!?

Sorry I missed your call John, I didnt have my phone on me.

Bugger all, I called you back, hope everything worked out alright.

Nope, didn't even recommend it.

He chose a sump/refugium that he bought. I didn't dissuade him though.

BTW You missed my call too and you didn't call me back!!!

I would add another overflow box but smaller cause your pump is to big. You would benefit also with another over flow.

dgk good advice...remember that you always want your overflow to remove slightly more water than your pump can return.

OK here is the latest after some great advice from NONSTOPHOOPS the ADHI 45 is up and running very nicely I am very happy with myself at this point Never did plumbing before and I accomplished it with some sound advice of course.
Now I have some new questions

1.How long should the fuge light run each day
2. since i have an aggresive tank i cannot put cleaner shrimp or snails in the tank but can I put then in the FUGE?
3. How will the nusiance algae grow in the refugium? and are there plants I can buy to help suck up the phosphates

Props to My WIsco Guys especially on this project you know who you are

i would not restrict your return. it could clog and the sump could overflow, or your pump could run dry causing it damage

8 hours will be fine.
Yes you can put them in the fuge but make sure they dont have a way out because snails will try, i would put a peppermint cleaner shrimp just incase of apaistia how ever you spell it.
Buy several portions of macro algea of any sort. Or go with a rodi to prevent phosphate, that is my next step.

When are we going to get some pictures out of this.
