Plywood tank build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually took a day off from the whole tank thing today. I think it just about gave the wife a heart attack when she got home and I was doing yard work.

Apparently my build just got a whole lot bigger. She wants a new floor in the room I plan on setting up my tank before I set it up. The work never ends.

your build looks great I am now subscribed and look forward to seeing the updates. I only have one concern and that is that the stand appears to be a little narrow IMO to support the tank. I may be wrong but wouldn't it be pretty tippy? thats alot of water perched up there when the stand doesn't go all the way to the edge of the tank at least

I agree the stand the way it is probably wouldn't work if it was in the middle of the room but it will be heavier on the back when it's full of water and be tight against the wall.

I went ahead and ordered some black Pond Armor today from Aqua Superstore. $72.99 was the best price I could find. Should take a week to come in so hopefully by next weekend I'll be sealing it up.

I trailerd the stand up to my Dad's place today and started painting the stand. I used the Shutz gun and shot it with a good coat of black rockerguard I want it to have a textured finish. It seems to have worked out like I wanted it to. Tomorow I'll go back and shoot a coat of black paint over the whole thing again. Forgot the camera at home tho so I wasn't able to take a picture.

Hit the jackpot at the Dollar Store. I grabbed a bunch of black polished riverstones. They're going to look great.

Also picked up a 300 GPH pump that was on sale. I'm not sure if this will be adequate but for the price I may go pick up another one.

I went and finished the painting on the stand today. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I put a second coat of the rocker guard on but I held the shutz gun way back and kind of misted it on so I'd get get a real fine gravel look. After it dried I went over it with some black gloss tremclad spray paint.
