Not much time for the tank construction today but I did manage to set up the front window frame. My measurements look ok so far. I'll be dowling the joins and glueing them.
You can see the front frame with the glass sitting on it in the pictures. I'll should have the time get the frame finished tomorrow and the form ply cut to size. I have 3 sheets for the job which should be enough by my reckoning. Form ply is water proof and apparently stronger then outdoor ply. Comparing the ply at the hardware store the form ply is much better made then the outdoor stuff. No rough edges or bits of ply layer missing. Well worth the extra few dollars in my opinion.
Well the GF grumbles about it. Which is the worst thing to do with me cause I just get more determined to have my way and succeed at what I'm doing.
Anyhow its early morning here, just been for my sea side walk and its time to plan the tank construction for the day
Been notching the front frame to fit the ply in flush with it and to create a much better bond between the two. Heres a picture to make it clearer. Next I ll dowl it at the joins and glue on assembly.
I don't have a clamp big enough for holding the sections into place while the glue drys around the dowls. A piece of railway line does a decent enough job. Will dowl and glue the ends next.
Had to move from the swamps, the skeeter are getting so big they're mating with the wild turkeys...flatfooted!! But I miss the gators...they're so huggable
Can we have pix of you holding that iron 8ft above your head?
You sure do great work for only having a hacksaw .
I'm sorry to hear that you had to give up the gator hugging, what a heart warming past time that must have been
Not much progress on the tank today as I went opal digging then came home to find my hacksaw was blunt so I started to sharpen it.
Sure takes a long time to file all those tiny little teeh
I'll post some more progress pix for you soon Joe.
Gotta go polish my opals now and finish sharpening the hacksaw blade
