I must have the most aggro polleni, hes 2 inches of pure evil he chases my 4"+ festae and vieja around all day everyday relentlessly. I thought my festae was going to run my tank but no the polleni does l:ROFL:

Ive been wondering the same thing.Few fish can rival a colored up adult male,Ive never seen a photo that does them justice.Awesome fish, they are on my must get someday list.

What is the temperament of these?

Polleni have been observed to be aggressive conspecifically--that is, to any fish that has the same or similar body profile. [There's been alot of research in the past four or five years on them, with researchers going to Madagascar, finding quality specimens, breeding and observing them.] That's why one often has to remove the male after spawing so he won't kill his female. . .

My adult male had literally beaten to death my oscar and jack dempsey before I could get them out; learned the hard way. However, he's now in with some severums, believe it or not--chases them around to keep his edge, but that's it. He's Boss Hawg in his tank.

However, the great thing about all living creatures is that they don't always follow the norm!!

My 4" is in with clown loaches, peacock eel, giant danios, autralian rainbows and he never chases any of them.

What do you feed your polleni? mine will only eat bloodworms.

The only reason why Pollieni are not as popular as other fish is because it's not " the in" thing. I had a real hard time finding a "small spot" polleni, but I got one. Grew to 9''. Had to sell it due to my job. Damn shame to....it was a beauty to.

So how do I know what kind of polleni I have and how many different kinds are there? Mine is jet black with small spots that are blue/green.
I will take pics when I get home.

There are small spot and large spot. I have a small spot. I think they're more attractive.

As for temperament, mine seems to do better with Africans (chased my GT and Texas like mad when they shared the same tank). He's now in with haps, chases a little, but not too bad.
