Im trying to figure out the long term stocking on the new tank. The main goal for me is ease of maintenance Can you guys with larger polys (say almost adult hood) give me an idea of what there bioload is like ? What were your nitrates between water changes ? How many polys and what size tank.

Sorry man only got upper jaws (8-9) in my 125g. Prior my nitrates were like 80. With wcs 2 per week. Now better since got my python and adapter.

Same issue with the current 150. I started overstocking it because of the upcoming upgrade but was having to do a couple of fin level wc's plus maybe 1 50% per week or i would hit 60 to 80ppm.

I started using purigen again and its a huge help but still was curious as to what to expect down the road

DMD123 DMD123 most of your polys are 15+ right ? Im thinking our bioloads will be similar though i only have 1 cichlid. You think you could run a nitrate test before your next wc?

Tbh Jaws my 180 has more than just the six polys in it but the last nitrate test I took the level was around 80+ my 180 is overstocked but I am managing it by not overfeeding, feeding every other day the weekly wc's. Also have vines of Pothos growing and hopefully the Pothos will grow like crazy lol.

For me I remember the highest nitrate I would have was 40-60 ppm. Normally it would be about 20 ppm when I was about to do a WC. I did a 40%-60% waterchange every 4-6 days.
I don't remember how many polys I had but I had them in a 270g tank. Most likely around 20x 12"-25" Bichirs along with other several monster fish ranging from 14"-29" Aros,Gars,Knifefish, etc. I would feed once every other day.
I was feeding twice the amount of food featured in the photos during each feeding. Also was feeding freeze dried krills/pellets to other fish.

I was running a 60g sump for this setup.

Lol its like taboo to admit what our nitrate levels are lol yeah im thinking maintaining that perfect 10 to 20 range is unralistic but would like to be closer long term with adult fish.

Set up a drip and quit worrying

Eventually but thats further down the road... need to make some changes to the house

Aaahh this gives me hope. I always felt that polys produced less of a bioload than cichlids maybe having to do with activity levels and the ammount of excreted ammonia but seeing thar stock list surprise me some pretty high octane fish.

What size was the tank ?
