Damn these two surprised me. Dat and SD wtf !!

I dont think polys are any more dangerous than most predators. Spend some time in the catfish section lol cats absolutely cant be trusted. Or predatory cichlids like parachromis and Petenia splendida. Predatory instincts will always win out.

Good thread tho. Will show newer members the possible outcomes. Oddly otber than my old del eating a few molly ive never had a poly eat smaller polys or other fish

I added some large laps to my main setup the other day and all seemed fine, checked in the morning and one of them had a massive chunk out of its tail. Looked to be Endli related. I decided to leave it in for another day and noticed the endli's still biting at the fish's injured tail so decided to quarantine and heal it back up. I assume it was an act of dominance rather than anything else as the laps are similarly sized to the endli. I am concerned when it heals if I reintroduce the lap it will happen again though.......I would have left it in there but the injury was quite bad and didn't want to risk it getting infected and dying as its a nice lap. Any thoughts?

Let it heal fully, fatten up/powerfeed with daily large water changes while in quarantine. If it beefs up enough, the endli may leave it alone. Either way, if you reintroduce, watch VERY CLOSELY. How many polys in the tank and what sizes?

5 and a half foot double height. 600 litre tank. 2 ornates, 3 senegals, 2 endlis and it was 2 laps introduced recently but now one is in quarantine other is fine. Coupke other peaceful oddballs.

I've always found endlis to be extremely territorial - if a bichir has a chunk of its tail taken out by another bichir, the perpetrator is likely to be an endli. Hope your lap gets well soon, they're such gentle giants.
