Polypterus Brackish

@ King-eL, the salinity averaged out at 1.008.
That mild brackish tank contained 1x Turkana PBB, 2x Chad PBB, 3x Congicus and 2 Ornates.
All fish were WC, and seemed to live very happily.
At one point there was a CB Chad PBB (f1) that didn't seem best pleased, so was moved to the freshwater.

What was the highest?

It's very low for an Estuary setup.
As a brackish river, it's medium to high.

Brackish water range from SG. 1.005-1.010. Higher than 1.012 is considered saltwater. I'm doing starting my bichirs acclimation now and hopefully they adapt well. 2 WC Chad PBBs as well as my Volta endli will be taking part of this. I will be only placing bichirs found in lakes and not in rivers. Riverine bichirs doesn't seems to tolerate higher SG level.

Good luck with your experiment Earl.
As for the SG, 1.008 was what I kept it pretty stable at.
When I setup Brackish (used to keep Brackish gobies as an obsession) I usually aim for an Estuary brackish level which is higher gravity than a river brackish.
But where I am, salt water (sea/marine) should be at around the 1.020+ SG, so 1.010 isn't really that high.

I guess the "standard" differs where you are.

With the Chad PBB, mine seemed to thrive, but then they had previously been acclimatised to this level (near abouts) in the store.
Can't comment on the Volta Endli, so watch that one carefully!

Well reason why japan got a higher SG level is due to volcanic activity. It those volcanic activity is what makes Lake Turkana a salt lake as well. Most brackish water around the world have 1.005-1.0010 as average and many brackish fish keepers keep their SG at that range.

Right now my tank where I acclimate the bichir are at 1.005 and they seem to do fine at the moment. Will higher the SG every week. Also I might be pushing the SG level to low salt water level and see how PBB can tolerate this.
