2 types of Wild Caught Natural Hybrid 'Lapen' from Japan. Captive Bred are actually supposed to be called/labeled as 'LapxEn'.

Owned by Tokyogasmask. Photos from 2011. He noted that the top pic has Endli head, bottom one has Lap head.

Realized that about some of the recent batches toyin has brought in. They have more of a lap head, where as some of the ones from a couple of years ago that Jurassic aquatics and aquatic daycare were selling had endli heads (pretty sure they got them from toyin though). It's really an interesting topic and something I really want to see science Unearth in the future.

WC Lapen are like one of the holy grail to poly keeping in my opinion. They're so few that are caught, and presumably an uncommon occurance. Fetched at a hefty price tag when available.

Based on some of the reads. Even the captive bred are hard to come by. Only because it's conducted by Japanese breeders such as Dory-k and others.

See and this is what I think us on the US side of things needs to adopt. Usually if you ask people what a WC Hybrid is called, they'll call it a Dabola, when the term sp. Dabola only specifies where it is caught. Where as Lapen describes what the species is alleged to be. So you can have a WC Lapen caught in Dabola, or somewhere else. However you begin to get confusion when you have the CB lapxend which is supposedly the same fish, but different quality.

Some of you have seen these photos, but probably not ceryain on exact specie. This is a confirmed Congicus photo from Royal Museum Central African. They're pretty plump.
