Polypterus for 180G

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, the 180 is not even happening now. My mom started argueing with me and then some how the conversation turned to the 180 gallon, and now I cant get it, but This really isnt the greatest house for a tank over 5ft so I might get a 180 or bigger in a year or two after we move out of our current house.. So, I might just get a 75 and put it in my room for some Plat. Senegals. How many would be a good number? I'm thinking a trio?

for the price of a trio of platinums, you could buy another tank(guessing for all three theyll cost around 500$+ ?) . is the 180 definately going to happen eventually? if so i'd use the 75 as a growout. if not some polys and maybe some ctenopoma(not sure on spelling), dats, and a planted setup would be awesome, especially with some big species of plecs like royals or scarlets

in that case i would go with some of the following
platinum senegal
delhezi bichir
palmas polli bichir
mokelembembe bichir
some kind of cichlid like blue acara ,keyhole cichlid ,or other less aggressive cichlids
or spiny eel and knife fish like african brown
theres alot to chose from

but i would go with
platinum senegal
delhezi bichir
mokelembembe bichir
african brown knife
and something on the top

The only problem I see with that is, I'd be afraid that when it comes time to move up to a bigger tank, I wont have the funds to do so, wich would really suck.

I could get a 120 wide though, as its only 4ft long.

if u get a 120, then u can keep any of the larger species of bichirs, and i'd highly recommend an ornate imo the best looking poly. also endlis are awesome and of course dels and sens would be great in that tank. if it were my tank heres wat i'd do: 2 thinbar dats, 5 polys of any kind(at least 1 ornate), 1 or 2 of the larger bushfish species, and some cool plecs. I'd decorate the tank with lots of large plants and driftwood, and a sand bottom.

Yeah, I'm thinking planted with some driftwood and a sand substrate, 2 Dats, one ornate, one long fin sen, one platinum sen, one delhezi, Just need to figure out the last poly.

not a fan of endlis? how about retropinnis, weeksi or teugulsi(no clue on spelling)

Forgot about an Endli! Theyre pretty cool.

2xWide Bars
1xornate
1xlongfin sen
1xplat sen
1xdel
1xendli

I was thinking, tsince there wont be any plecs, maybe add some more Dats?

u could add 1 or 2 more dats since they grow so slow. 2 widebars and 2 thinbars would be cool.

Hmm, good idea. This tank is going to look awesome once its done. Gonna get the dats first though and let them grow.
