Polypterus or Clown Knife?

I have both and my poly's are way more active than my ck. I have a polypterus endlicheri congicus and an ornate and they're both awesome.

I dunno - my ck would take food from my hand. Guess it depends on each fish. I vote for a clown knife, though one may grow fast enough so that it might try eat your clown loaches depending on their size.

Polys look better in groups. And since you're limited to one...I'd go with a CK, but a Poly will definitely give more of a "creep" factor.

If your planning on a flag tail get the ck, flagtails tend to suck on bichirs and eventually kill them.

Neither seems like a good long-term tankmate with clown loaches.

also, may i add that i keep a 7'' flag tail with my polys and they do just fine.

There is a risk with flag tails, I'm not saying every one will suck on bichirs but look in the gar and bichir sub forum and you will see quite a few incidences with them harassing fish with ganoid scales.

Polypterus would be fascinating in a tank like yours, but you'd need a few of them to get such an effect.
