Just saw an update list of fish coming into the shop I go to for fish. They have "double trunk elephant nose" coming in tomorrow. I googled it but don't see what the difference between a elephant nose and double trunk elephant nose is?
If it is Campylomormyrus tamandua, get them get them get them!!!
they have yellow instead of white and their mouth is down their trunk. Here is what they look like.
I have been trying to get my LFS to order them for awhile now, this photo was one I had downloaded a while back to show the store
Oh wow that is REALLy cool looking. Looks like almost a metallic yellow / gold I like that. I'll email the shop owner right now (he's a fellow club member ) and ask him if they are Campylomormyrus tamandua. Will let ya know. If they are...what's a good price fer size?
wetspot has little ones(1.5-2") for $25 and regular elephant nose(3-5") for $20 so I would guess about 20% more than what elephant nose go for. Also it seems the tamandua on the market are tank raised where almost if not all regular elephant nose are wild caught. Also I think the yellow/gold can change with stress so don't be surprised if their colors aren't that great when they arrive
Poly tank is looking awesome now thanks to our club auction today. I nabbed a HUGE bag of 20 anubias plants for dirt cheap. Believe it or not this is only have the plants, the other half will go into the other 120g once done in a few weeks. Also grabbed a few bags of java moss.
Are those orantes? Yeah that one with the nursery is pretty cool. They dumped a ton of money into the remodel of it about a year ago. That one is kind of hit & miss on prices.
