Thats what rain gear is for...;)

yea, but the reason we stopped was because of the mortar and such, not because I was afraid to melt,,,

Ambien is kicking in, so please forgive what i type.....

So, the past week has been a kinda bummer....but the pond will be made. Got the liner in (45 mil epdm), my 7950 gph pump, and underlayment. Here go my filter story...
So I bought a yard storage deck thing from home depot. 126 Gallon bench/tub thing. So I but it together, seal every crack, at every connection, i gorrilla glued the crap out of it. Drimmeled my hold, put the in and out piping in...so i fill it with water.....3 leaks.....so then I let it dry, and add a ton more gorilla glue...let set, then tried again....Fail....5 leaks now, so i said screw it, went to HD and got one of thier cheapo liners. Put it in, but the holes for the pipes, and seal with real sealant this time. Filled it up, and yea!! it holds water....then wierd noices started happenening, and like a sceen out of a bad commendy, the front tottaly fell of and all the water came out...too much pressure,....guy at home depot said he had the same set up when he made his. I now think he is a lair. My buddy/contractor is bringing some iron to weld on to to to stableize it. I put wratched strapes on it, held it, buckeld a few ends, so I took them off and am waiting for him, then its off to finish the pond. Got power ran back there today....so close..yet so far, lol.....ill post some pics tomorrow..

Here are the much delayed pics! Laid down the electrical to the back...The size has gone down from 16x16 to about 14x15....Going to dig it out some more to keep same amount of gallons...Bog tier still has 2 more level to add, just waiting for the first course to get sturdy....pond level will be where the cinderblocks are now, just have to add the underlayment.liner, then caps....Welded a brace for the filter, also have to paint it. Plants will go to the sides of it to try to hide it...

The left side of the pond is going to be a 2 tier patio with gazebo...My buddy who is a general contractor is helping me with all this (no charge, only mats..) and is kinda busy, so on his free time is when we work...hopefully some more weds, thurs, or fri....

Thinking 2 pacu, some tin foil barbs (5-8), 3 pleco, a cat (not sure which), and maybe a sturgeon... a thai market has had a sturgeon (about 3 feet) for a month now, would love to save him from being food, if it gets done and cycled soon...

Is the filter going to get buried?

What is it made of?

No, filter wont be buried. Got to paint it, and planting trees and bushes around to help hide...Filter has lava rock and nylon pot scrubbies in the bottom, then egg crate, the about 18" of filter media....Its rubbermaid...126 Gallons, lined with a pond liner...

Ok, got a question (looking at you Muske), ok, i think im going to add an arbor over trhe top for the pond, lond ways accross it. be about 3-4 wide, then 16 ft long along the top. On the top, i was thinking of a maze of black pvc pipping on the top. the leg closed to the arbor would have the pipping run up it to the top maze, and the farther away leg is where the water would kick the water out...going to have plants and stuff on it hanging.....also putting a mister system for the plants and help keep the water cooler in the summer.....now....will this work?

I'm assuming the PVC is for a solar heater correct?

Sould be fine, just need to find a small, high head pump to get the water up there. When selecting plant material, don't get anything evergreen that will block sunlight from getting to the pipes in the winter months. The arbor will help shade the pond and keep it cooler in the summer. I would still highly recomend lillies in the main pond as for more shade and cover for the fish. Koi may destroy them in a couple of years, but hopefully not to soon so they give the plants on the arbor time to get established.

Is that filter the one that needed to be braced with steel? I have found them very sturdy and if buried somewhat into the soil they never move.
