Don't need one. I never said you haven't had these results as you claim. But to paint a broad swipe of your bad result against multiple success stories and multiple manufacturers in a bit unnecessary.

Look at the top where the led colors see coming through...ask this cloudyness was caused by a fish digging a hole, about 30 mins ago

My cichla threw that all over the place never got cloudy just caught in my filter :irked::irked: Learned that lesson after about three filters lol.

Are you sure you got pool filter sand and not play sand/sand box sand? I've never had any experience with play sand/sand box sand but what your experiencing is something I've heard those who used play sand complain about. It's due to it's extremely fine consistency, the particles are so small that their weight isn't enough for it to settle quickly. As such any stirring clouds the water and it takes forever to clear. Better yet why don't you post a pic of the bag you used or tell us the name brand etc. this way we can see exactly what your using.

I was gonig to ask the same question. I have been using PFS for years and never had a clouding issue. Not only in my tanks but this spring I just replaced the sand in my pool filter and it was very clean. By nature PFS has to be clean because it is used in pool filters. Playground sand, masonary sand, general purpose etc. however is very dirty and requires alot of rinsing before it is usable if either of these are not rinsed completly they can be disasterious cloud for weeks and containe quite a bit of silt. Did you buy this at a pool store? I get mine at Leslie pools $10 for 50 lbs.

When you cleaned the sand, did u make sure to stir through it while running the water. To get all the stuff on the bottom? And not just put a hose in and turn it on?

I didn't bother washing mine at all. Lazy? Maybe and I paid for it with cloudyish water for months. It would clear, then someone would pitch a conniption and it would stir things up again. It was never terrible but it didn't look nice.

I have used at least 500lb of pool filter sand since getting in to fish keeping. I have not rinsed a single back, just umped it in. Within 30 minutes, my tank is clear and I have never had clouding problems.

Hopefully nobody reads this thread and decides against it, because PFS is a great substrate. OFFICIAL
