PFS in an African tank. Absolutely no cons.

Same here. This tank has nothing but canisters with intakes about 2" above the bottom. Cichlids spit sand into the intakes all the time but there's no possible way for sand to ever make it to the motor/impeller.

Love my pfs. I didn't even bother rinsing it......mainly due to the fact that I was setting up my tank in the middle of winter up here in New Hampshire. Tank was a little bit cloudy for a couple of weeks, but cleared up with no issues from the canister nor the HOB. That was nearly 2 years ago.....and my green severums constanly moves and spits sand.

Guys its OFFICIAL.

Like a referee wit a whistle. I've used p.f.s. and it did not give me any problems but then I found God's give to the aquarium substrate world......color quartz sand.

Regardless of what others are saying in the post, the pfs available to me caused the clouding.

I sucked it all out and replaced it with white sand, same grade, bought from an aquarium at nearly 3 times the price, and the clouding went away overnight.

Whether it was brand or type or whatever....I categorically would never ever water my time, money, or sanity on buying pfs again...

Never had a problem. I like menards All Star pfs, its not white, looks natural and for me 2bags required 0 rinsing.

So the title of this post should actually be: "The Specific PFS Available to Me is Terrible"
