this may sound stupid, but we sell quickrete sand, it looks like its from the river, i really like it, but i dont think itll work.where can i get pool filter sand?
I've used quickcrete sand before. I'm not sure if it was inert though, but it was for CA cichlids, so if it was a little alkaline it wasn't a problem.

I definitely prefer pool filter sand over play sand. The price isn't all that different and pool filter sand is a lot cleaner and coarser. It takes much less rinsing to get it ready for a tank and it's much less likely to become compacted and form anaerobic areas on the bottom of the tank (bad news for fish).

pool supply store.

Just go to Leslie's pool center. I ge 50 lbs for about $9. I use it in all of my tank except for one....darn argonite....that stuff is hard to clean.

I love PFS!

I lik eplay sand alot better it is a little bit darker then ppol foilter sand and if you are using in for the red devil it looks a lot better by the way what kind of light are you using in my 75 i use a dual shop light with one cheap ge plant aquarium light and an actinic blue 40 watt btw it is a 48 inch strip the actinic blue bulbs are awesome

Howdy,

If you want to keep plants: Use playsand because it still has clay components that act as long-term fertilizers

If you have large, digging fish: Use poolfiltersand because it's cleaner.
