Yup unfornatly big cat rescue is pretty much a extremist animal rigths organization. I prefectly understend the need to severely restrict the ownership of the really big cats(tigers, lions, etc), that they are way bred to much, lack of conditions they are kept in,etc (in my opinion the British sistem for the private ownership of big cats its a very good model to folow by the US) but this guys want the stop of the trade of ALL exotics, bearded dragons and turts included:screwy:

pluc BCR used to breed all thier cats alot.....
anyway, proteus, i need 2 years of caring for a serval. i could work/volly at that rescue but i need the care of the serval directly. no other species would work.

coura, would a sulcatta and a serval really make a good pair or r u joking? dont tempt me! my wife wants a sulcatta so that would work ;)

oddly enough, i read that while i need a permit to care for a big cat(and it has to be in an enclosure with it locked at all times, of course i would follow that:ROFL:)
i do not need a permit to own a non-human primate. :nilly: . not sure if thats true but....

I personally would place the blame on those "canned" hunts and the fur/parts trade. There are some folks out of illinois downstate that breeds the cats or get the cats from some source then they kill em then bring em up to Chicago. I am not sure if that operation has been busted or not.

As long as there is a "want" of those animals then there always will be a problem.

Well...we have two bengal cats...cross breed between an Asian Leopard from Malaysia with a domestic cat.....people who come to our house sometimes gets freaked out especially when they have a purse or clothes with the same pattern...they don't eat people... :-) but do like to on my 8 year but leaves the older one....both Bengals like to pounce

I never knew the Bengal was a result of a domestic crossed with an Asian leopard.Good loooking cats though.
