Poorman's Monster Fish Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A gentle reminder about tank size. Brick could cover 6' with three sweeps of his tail when he got big. Oscars can cover a lot of ground quickly. They get more sedentary with size and age but they aren't doorstops like plecos that just lay around. They need room to roam, explore and exercise. I may post the full tank shot of Brick in the 225.

Maybe we're being too negative about this. I mean, as long as you put the fish into the tank facing the predetermined correct direction at the start...why does it need to turn around? I'll bet that this would even allow keeping some more aggressive fish together; all you need to do is make sure the nastiest one is in front of the others, and everything should work out great...

I'm starting to think tank size is vastly overrated as a factor in proper fishkeeping. Once we achieve full mastery of carefully controlled and regulated stunting of growth...anything can be kept anywhere! :)

I don't know why everyone is worrying about fish overgrowing their tanks. Whenever my iridescent shark becomes too large for his 15g, I take him out of the tank, cut him in two, return one half to the tank, and hand the other to the fish shop for store credits.

Are you saying that you aren't trimming your fish?
