Rubber-band & a rock?

I added the wrasse from a QT tank around 10 days ago to my 150 gallon Fish Only. I noticed something with the scales the yesterday or the day before and today is worse. Looks like the scales are falling off.

He was in QT for around 6 weeks. Treated with Prazipro and Cupramine.

Behavior seems fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

Here is a picture

Also, I was looking at older pictures and I do not see all those red dots as seen in this picture. Although the older picture was with a phone camera so image quality is poor.

One more note, in that picture you can see the fin is broken. That occurred early on. Either it happened when transferring or it happened during the first feeding. I have seen no aggression towards the wrasse, but the wrasse has been aggressive towards the butterfly.

thanks,

Mike

The scales of the wrasse look the same this morning, but i do notice more sand is sticking to the wrasse than usual. I have searched the web and cannot find anything on this.

Any ideas? I am thinking of treating with Seachem Kanaplex by mixing with food (and seachem Focus). My other fish will get some too, but it does not appear it will harm them.

My only other thought is the 28 days of cupramine treatment in the QT did some damage. I did have him in the QT for around another week after taking out the cupramine with carbon.

thanks,

Mike

Im no expert, I think maybe the slime coat of the wrasse isn't healthy...which is why sand particles are sticking to it (Remember i'm no expert). If you would like to be safe, place the wrasse bacl into the QT for further examination, and relief possible stress from other fish.

thanks. I agree on the slime coat. I am concerned moving him back to the QT would do more harm than good.

I have been watching the tank most of today (I have a web cam hooked up) and have seen no signs of aggression towards the wrasse. I am going to try Seachmen kanflex in hopes it is a bacteria infection and the kanflex takes care of it.

Also, parameters are:

My ammonia and nitrite are zero. nitrate is around 40ppm, ph is around 8.2, temp is 78.5, salinity is around 1.024.

thanks,

Mike

What you can do if you decide to place him into the QT, make sure you have some big pvc pipes (purchase from home depot, lowes...hardware stores), add some stress coat, leave the lights of for a day or two. This should calm him/her down. Also you could make the QT look more natural...in mine I have sand and rocks (not live rocks). Currently my diamond goby is in their, made a shelter under the rock....shows he's behaving good.

You should do a water change to bring nitrates down more.
Hope all goes well

You're not going to add an antibacterial to your main tank with live rock in it, are you? Great way to entirely crash the system & kill off any good bacteria in there.
