At my house...
hi, i just acquired a turtle from a friend as he is leaving his hobbies for college...
he said that its a musk turtle, but wasnt sure...

So can anybody give me a positive ID???

okay... whats the max size on this??? does it require any land??? thanks
 
'Bout 4 inches long, they will bask occasionally...
 
if the nose is pointed, its a musk, if it is rounded it is a mud
 
Its a yellow mud turtle Kinosternon flavercens;) (hope Im spelling correctly) very cool litle turts been wanting one for a wille now. Just keep it like you would keep a stinkpot, and yes it needs to bask

They get a bit bigger then that, if Im not mistaken they are the largest us muds, like any other turtle provide the biggest enclosure you possibly can:)

Yep, coura beat me to it. That's a K. flavercens.
 
We've got one in the shop in a turtle tub that chooses to hide under a rock on the land side all the time - we thought it was dead up until last week when we moved the tub and found it under the rock! It only comes out to eat and drink once or twice every few months!
