So I have the option of buying a "tank" that this guy has for $100. Here's the deal: it's a cylindrical tank, 45" across, and 35" tall, which makes it approximately 241g. But its semi-built into the stand, which adds another 10". The good part is that the wall(s) is made of acrylic (I think 1/2", but not sure). The bad part is that the acrylic wall is just siliconed (his words) into the bottom of the plastic tank stand. So there is no bottom piece.

Now, the stand is butt ugly. Would it be worth it to buy the thing, trash the stand, get a bottom plate cut, and build a stand for it? I mean its only $100, and the guy is willing to deliver it to me.

Here is a pic of it:

yes do it

fugly.... but it could be a cool idea. you'd need a odd place in your house to get that to fit in.

It was a lobster tank I think

Yes it was a lobster tank. It had a chiller and air bubbler, but they were removed. The previous owner used it as a fish tank and used a canister filter.

He offered to bring it to me tomorrow, but I didn't have the $100 lying around handy :irked:

I'm gonna call him and tell him I'll take it, as long as he'll hold it for me til the weekend (its about 2 hours away).

Do you think I should just scrap the stand? I was thinking ray tank for this, and it'd be better if could see in the whole thing (the cylinder is recessed down into the stand about a foot, I think).
