My experience is this: It was 8 months ago, and also when I called they said they were making the rules much more stringent in the upcoming months.

Application is zero dollars. Yes, I was suprised myself.

You can it two ways: educational or if you are a business...

I guess business is non-relevant considering you DO NOT have a business and won't be able to provide the simplest document pertaining its status.

Now, education is tricky and I thought perhaps I could have had a chance (after all, what qualifies as studying?). Anyways, nope, you need a LICENSED FACILITY that is APPROVED BY FWC.

To sum it up...Get a Gar instead or grow to be a crafty politician to get rid of this ban!

Best of Luck!

Lol another Fish Keeper in my city!!!

Thanks for info guys!!! But back to my one question. What if Florida get's infested by piranha? In every single FW body of water there were shoals of piranha, Wouldn't they have to let people keep them? Otherwise I'd just go catch one.

No, they'd work on eradicating them and restoring the natural state of wild life there. The eco system is sensitive and it's our job to try to protect it.

No offense, But I'd rather have monster fish in our ponds and lakes rather than bass, sunfish, crappie, and so on.

I'm sure i did when i was 13 also. The impact of a small change can lead to unforeseen events that you would've never expected such as another specie overproducing or something that wasn't hunted becoming overhunted.

Piranhas aren't the monsters you think they are by the way.

No, I never believed in the newspaper articles and the Sci-Fi movies that depict piranhas and ferocious killers that attack you on sight, Piranhas are more scared of us then we are of them.

if you don't even understand why the law exists, then you should reconsider being a biologist.

the world is not a giant fish tank for us to play with. invasive species (when introduced non-naturally) are extremely devastating to natural fish communities, and that is why the law is in place.

idiots who release aquarium fish into the wild are to blame for the ban.

Thinking such as this is one reason for the restrictions. With this line of thinking your not going to make much of a biologist, maybe Burgerworld would be a better career choice. ;)

They are legal where I live, and pretty boring IMO. I don't keep them, but have a friend who does, they hide a lot and are very skittish.
