Inferior, how? By color? By character? By size? They both are awesome fish. Personally I would take a mayan over a terror. I see festae in every nonchain petstore, and seldom come across a mayan (properly labled or not) . I lost a mayan a few years back that I am sure would put alot of festae to shame and would probably of shedded the rest.

I have kept both Festae and Mayans. I can see why some people would like Mayans but i completely understand why many more people prefer Festae. I have yet to find one single Mayan that looks better than a Festae. That's my opinion. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you are in search of Mayans come to Florida and you can get them in all sizes dirt cheap. Most people have the opposite LFS experience that you have. While you commonly find Festae, many more people find Mayans. As it has been said in numerous threads before this, the problem occurs when people buy fish labeled as Festae only to find out later that they have actually purchased a Mayan. People expect to have the fish they actually spent money on. You find many people on this site that have had this happen to them in their search for Festae. That's why you get more threads about people upset about receiving a mislabeled Mayan instead of a Festae. The demand is greater for Festae. If the demand was opposite you would find more threads of people upset about receiving a Festae instead of a Mayan. I think this is where people confuse the demand in the hobby for a certain fish as an insult to a fish that they personally like. Who cares? Keep what you like and enjoy your tank. We all have our preferences.

AL, I always enjoy reading your insightful and well thought out posts. They're a far cry from my one word replies lol.
LOL...Thanks! I enjoy your posts too. Sometimes a few words are better than many. BTW I love the avatar!

I bought a 6" for $15. I love my Mayan.
