Possible Red Bellied Piranha Tankmates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a spotted rapheal cat and they are fine together...once your p's get bigger maybe try a small fast and cheap tetra haha...they are too small usually for the p's to bother with and even if they do then they are easy to replace...once mine are larger I think I will try neons.

Im gonna try the tetras too. I have 8 glo light tetras in a ten gallon tank now. Once my rhom gets another inch or two im going to try to put them in there. I dont know if he will go after them or not. I assume he will, but they are small and Ill add lots of hiding spots. If I loose a few they are cheap, If he kills them all the first night Ill know not to try it again:)

I have seen pacock bass with piranhas , i personally had a larger size hifin pleco in tank before i added the red bellie p's, Almost like they dont pay him any attention.

I actually put in a pearl gourami (meant to be food) and it has lived with my p's for about a month or so now...its quite funny I do feed the occasional feeder to the p's and the gourami will follow the feeder around and if the p's loose sight of the feeder the gourami shows them where it is and chases it out of hiding :P

ok so far...

6x 8-9 inch rbps...

a vejia species since they were quarter sized... still there and bigger than the Ps now..

a few sunfish for a couple months now..

and i had a jag in there for a good 5 months til my dad decided to move it out of the tank and when i moved it back the Ps killed it..

ooo and a pleco ive had along with the vejia the whole time.. got the pleco when it was 2-3 inches and now is probably closer to 10..

Howdy,

I have been trying to introduce tiny tankmates to my 5+'' pirayas. They are most effective hunters, completely eradicated 4 dozen red cherry shrimp from the heavily planted tank, and they keep eating the Endlers I introduce as well.
